De bomen groeiden in de periode 1990-2000 tot in de hemel waardoor ondernemingen niet in de gaten hadden, dat door de overgang van een industrieel - naar een digitaal tijdperk, de winnende strategie van voorheen de verliezende strategie voor de toekomst is geworden!
Twee krachten
Het huidige economische landschap wordt gevormd onder invloed van twee sterke krachten: technologie en globalisering. Door de overgang van het Industriële - naar het Digitale tijdperk worden wij geconfronteerd met niet vaak voorkomende fundamentele veranderingen waarvoor nog geen pasklare oplossingen zijn. Dat biedt enerzijds enorme nieuwe kansen maar vormt voor lang bestaande organisaties ook bedreigingen. Dit omdat zij vanuit hun bestaande structuur en cultuur onvoldoende raad weten met de nieuwe kansen. De oorzaak blijkt te liggen in het gegeven dat traditionele bedrijven vaak niet de echte consequenties van nieuwe digitale toepassingsmogelijkheden onder ogen zien
Wat is er door digitalisering zoal mogelijk?
- Door het vermogen om systemen universeel te koppelen, op een manier die nog nooit eerder is vertoond, is de informatiestroom losgemaakt van de fysieke– goederenstroom. Hierdoor kan elk van de stromen zijn eigen economische wetten volgen;
- In een digitale economie zullen de consumenten steeds meer zelf hun benodigde informatiehalen, zelf initiatief willen nemen tot eventueel nader contact en zelf steeds meer bepalen onder welke voorwaarden dat nader contact zal plaatsvinden;
- Digitale communicatie vult de kloof, in de informatievoorziening, die de massa media hebben gecreëerd. Als persoon wil men minder massa informatie en meer persoonlijke informatie op het moment dat je zelf kan uitkiezen, ontvangen (Communications on demand). De multifunctionele consument wil, vanwege de veelheid van informatie waar hij/zij elke dag mee lastig gevallen wordt, een informatie systeem waarmee keuzes uit bepaalde publicaties en programma`s gemaakt kunnen worden en alles wat hij/zij wil weten redigeert op basis van gegevens over zijn/haar levensstijl, smaak, liefhebberijen en persoonlijke informatie & kenniswensen etc.;
- Door de combinatie met de juiste kennis en kunde ontstaat de mogelijkheid de beschikking te krijgen en op een professionele en slagvaardige wijze in te spelen op relevante trends welke voor het opstellen van het bedrijfsplan essentiële randvoorwaarden zijn.
Anders communiceren
Het nieuwe gedrag van mensen noodzaakt bijvoorbeeld communicatie specialisten anders te gaan denken, anders te gaan meten, op een andere wijze tot indeling in groepen te komen, anders te gaan communiceren en reclame uitingen niet meer op basis van bereik maar op effectiviteit af te rekenen. Veronderstellingen, vaagheden of gemiddelden( kenmerkend voor de massa marketing en communicatie) zijn niet langer te accepteren ondanks dat helaas nog steeds tegen beter weten in gebeurt. Het komt nu op het individu aan. Het is dus onmogelijk alleen al als gevolg van blijvende veranderingen op de oude voet verder te gaan!
